Students to Students Split Summer School is made by students of Theoretical and Mathematical physics masters programme at LMU in collaboration University of Split. The goal of the school is to cover some of the basic concepts in fields of theoretical and mathematical physics in a non traditional way and then presenting current research in these areas. It will take place in Split, Croatia. Target group for this conference are Bachelor and Master students.

We expect the audience to gain an insight into basic content and ideas of field theories including both, the mathematical and the physical approach. Also, our goal is to show not only topics regarding these areas which students can find in regular textbooks but also to discuss topics which are usually not covered in a regular course. Furthermore, lectures will be accompanied by discussion sessions. We will conclude the conference with a social event- a unique fusion of tra- ditional food: Bavarian-Dalmatian breakfast

Fields covered in the summer school are divided into four main parts:

- Quantum mechanics from mathematical point of view
- Gravitation and Cosmology
- Quantum Felds and it's application
- String theory and Conformal Field theory

The idea of Part I is to first introduce basic mathematical concepts for Mathematical Quantum Mechanics. Example of these are Hilbert spaces, bounded and unbounded operators, the spectral theorem, selfadjointness of operators and why we need it. Then, we will focus on physical interpretations of quantum mechanics and finally conclude with a more advanced topic.

Part II will ofer a quick overview of concepts and ideas in basic diferen- tial geometry, which will allow us to present a geometric approach to gravity, Einstein's theory of general relativity, from a modern perspective. The need of geometry instead of a conventional field-driven force and its consequences will be discussed. Also, the basic concepts in cosmology will be introduced.

This field ofers a very rich amount of possible topics. Therefore, the content depends strongly on the speakers. A possible direction is particle physics, including the contrast of classical interpretations of particles with quantum field theory. Another idea would be making connections to string theory such that the relation of QFT and strings gets apparent.

Part IV deals with basics in string theory and conformal field theory as an application to strings. This includes introducing the fundamental ideas in string theory, dealing with some core results of the basic theory which enable the audience to participate in discussions, and finally describe some more advanced topic, viewing string theory as a field of current research.

Split is the second-largest city of Croatia and the largest city of the region of Dalmatia. It also one of the oldest cities in the region as it was founded in the 3rd or 2nd century BCE as the Greek colony of Aspfialathos. However, the first permanent resident of Split was Roman Emperor Diocletian. In 305 BCE he built his famous Diocletian's Palace as a place to spend his retirement. The site was most likely chosen due to being near to Salona, the capital of the province of Dalmatia at that time, but also having a secure port and a more immediate access to the open sea in the case of an attack. After the Romans abandoned the site, the Palace remained empty for several centuries. In the 7th century, nearby residents ed to the walled palace in an efort to escape invading Avars. Since then the palace has been occupied, with residents making their homes and businesses within the palace basement and directly in its walls. Today palace is filed with shops and restaurants. Split is also famous for its beaches. There are many beaches in Split Croatia, ranging from sandy to pebble ones. Most of the beaches are southeast of Split's harbor all the way to Podstrana village. Others are at the foot of Marjan hill, mostly rocky, bordered by a pine forest and with good local bus connections. In nearly all Split beaches the sea water is very clean and calm, without tides, under water currents or high waves. The sea temperature is comfortably warm from mid May to mid October.

Students to students summer school will take place at the building of Faculty of Science in Split. Accommodation of participants of the school will be organised at the students dormitory which is located at University campus.

There is an option to reserve accomodation through us. We offer two packages. Both accommodations are located at student dorm "Dr. Franjo Tuđman" which is located 5 minutes by walk from the university where the school will take place. The first option includes single room with breakfast for 6 days. The cost of this package is 175 euros per person. The second option includes bed in a room for two people with breakfast for 6 days.
